An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Company Commercial Solicitor to take on a senior leadership position with an established and highly regarded law firm in Gloucestershire.
This is a key appointment for the firm, offering the successful candidate the opportunity to take responsibility for the continued development and growth of an established Company Commercial practice, alongside playing an active role within the wider senior management team.
The successful candidate will be an experienced corporate/commercial lawyer with a strong technical background and, importantly, the ambition and commercial awareness to help shape the future direction of the department.
The Role
You will take a hands-on approach to leading the Company Commercial team, with responsibility for both the day-to-day running of the department and its longer-term strategic development.
Alongside managing your own caseload, you will advise a varied client base including SMEs, owner-managed businesses and established commercial organisations on matters such as:
M&A and corporate transactions
Shareholder agreements and corporate structures
Commercial contracts
Corporate reorganisations and restructuring
Joint ventures
Corporate governance and general company law matters
There will also be a strong emphasis on business development and client relationship management, with the opportunity to build on existing relationships, develop new sources of work and raise the profile of the department across Gloucestershire and beyond.
You will also play an important role in developing the next generation of lawyers within the team, providing supervision, mentoring and support while creating a positive and collaborative working environment.
The Candidate
The firm is looking for an established Company Commercial lawyer, ideally with 8+ years' PQE, who is ready to take the next step into a genuine departmental leadership role.
You will need to demonstrate:
Strong corporate and/or commercial legal experience
Experience handling complex and varied commercial matters
A proven ability to develop client relationships and generate new business
Previous experience supervising, mentoring or managing other lawyers
Strong commercial awareness and strategic thinking
The confidence to contribute at senior management level
A personable and collaborative approach
This would suit someone who is already operating at Head of Department, Legal Director, Partner or Senior Associate level and is looking for a role where they can have genuine influence over the future direction of a practice.
