Commercial Director

A rapidly expanding manufacturing company on the outskirts of Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk are currently recruiting for a Commercial Director to join it''s leadership team.

This is a permanent role, paying between -75,000 - -85,000, depending on experience.

Overview of the role:
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will take overall responsibility for the commercial and sales function, leading a sales teams.

The role will focus on developing and delivering the company''s commercial strategy, driving sales growth and profitability & securing significant new business and high-value contracts. You will also work closely with the wider leadership team to support the company''s continued growth and development.

What does the role involve?

• As a Commercial Director, you will be responsible of sales strategies and executing them to a high standard
• Driving performance throughout the company and specifically within the sales team
• Take responsibility for the profit and loss of the sales department
• Oversee sales budgets, forecasting and commercial performance
• Work closely with production, estimating and other internal departments to ensure customer orders are delivered effectively and in line with production capacity
• Leading, mentoring and managing the sales team to perform to the best of their ability
• Work closely with the leadership team in the business to help with strategic business decisions
• Look at continuous improvement methods across the commercial function
• Running regular sales meetings with the team to monitor performance and drive growth where possible
• Representing the company at Industry events and trade shows across the UK

Candidate requirements:

• Proven experience in a senior commercial or sales leadership role
• Strong people management and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team
• Accomplished in securing and closing large, high-value and multi-million-pound contracts
• Background within a manufacturing environment is required
• Commercially astute, with a strong strategic and analytical mindset
• High attention to detail, focused on delivering strong results
• Ability to build and maintain customer relationships
• Excellent negotiation, communication and relationship-building skills
