CNC Turning Engineer

A leading precision engineering manufacturer is looking for an experienced CNC Turning Engineer to join their team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled CNC machinist with strong turning experience who is confident with programming, setting and operating CNC mill/turn machinery.

The Role

• Program, set and operate CNC mill/turn lathes, specifically Mori NLX2500/700 machines with Mitsubishi controls.

• Program machines offline using Fusion 360.

• Produce high-quality components to precise customer specifications and required tolerances.

• Interpret engineering drawings, CAD data and job sheet requirements.

• Carry out first-off inspections and in-process quality checks.

• Use measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers and bore gauges.

• Identify and resolve machining issues including tool wear, dimensional variation and surface-finish problems.

• Troubleshoot basic machine, tooling and programming issues.

• Prepare components for secondary operations including surface treatments, finishing, fitting and tapping.

• Carry out machinery health checks, servicing and maintenance as required.

• Raise any concession requests, NCRs or potential production delays with the CNC Manager.

• Maintain high standards of health & safety and quality throughout the manufacturing process.

• Attend relevant training where required.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Proven experience programming, setting and operating CNC turning or mill/turn machinery.

• Experience with Mori NLX machines would be advantageous.

• Mitsubishi control experience.

• Experience programming offline using Fusion 360.

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and CAD data.

• Strong inspection and measurement skills.

• Experience working to tight tolerances and high-quality standards.

• Good understanding of tooling, machining processes and problem solving.

• A strong commitment to health & safety and quality.
