The Opportunity
We are seeking experienced CNC Millers to join a growing manufacturing operation based in Middlesbrough.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within a modern engineering environment producing high-precision components for the Aerospace, Defence, Energy and Chemical sectors. The successful candidates will benefit from ongoing training, development and genuine career progression opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Set and operate CNC machines in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications and company procedures.
- Ensure all work is completed to the required quality standards.
- Program machines and prepare jaws, parallels, jigs and fixtures for production runs.
- Produce first-off components and support prove-out activities alongside Production Engineering.
- Run production batches in line with standard operating procedures and routing instructions.
- Machine a range of materials including alloy steels, nickel-based alloys, super alloys, stainless steels and duplex alloys.
- Interpret engineering drawings using both metric and imperial measurements.
- Carry out in-process inspections using a variety of measuring equipment.
- Work closely with Engineering, Production Control, Inspection and Maintenance departments.
- Utilise computer systems to load programs and record production activities.
- Support training and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Adhere to all quality, health and safety, and environmental procedures.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as required.
The Candidate
Essential Requirements
- Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent engineering qualification.
- Previous experience setting and operating CNC milling machines, vertical borers or horizontal borers.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Experience using precision measuring and inspection equipment.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible approach to shift working.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience using Fanuc control systems.
- CNC programming experience.
- Experience within Aerospace, Defence, Energy, Chemical or Precision Engineering sectors.
- Experience with live tooling.
