Overview

The Clinical Research Matron will provide professional nursing leadership and management of the research team comprising research nurses, practitioners, data managers and research assistants, and will be responsible for the development of staff and the research portfolio within the overall RDU1 and 9 structure. The role supports the expansion of the RDUs and underpinning this with commercial and grant income to enhance Neurosciences and Paediatrics research at King''s. Emphasis is on delivering services in a high quality, courteous, patient-focused manner while maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.Key responsibilities

Line management of the research team and leadership on specific projects (staff training, induction, systems) with general support to the RandD Leads and Investigators. This includes managing finances, resources and staff while maintaining the standard of care for patients.Negotiate with professional colleagues for coordinated care within the research and Clinical Trials Service and establish relationships within and beyond the organisation.Develop and implement operational policies and procedures (SOPs) within the unit; develop operational systems to ensure clinical research is conducted to the highest ethical and regulatory standards.Provide expert advice to investigators and research teams to ensure compliance with codes of conduct, regulations, policies, protocols and good clinical practice; monitor systems to ensure research is conducted under GCP and NHS governance.Maintain accurate research and sample records; conduct trend analysis on unit activities.Produce and maintain an up-to-date clinical trials portfolio for reference for all clinical staff; provide support for RDU 1 and 9 research teams, including clinics and research appointments when needed; ensure staff competency through training and mentoring.About us
