Overview

To provide supervised first-class clinical service in HandN Cross Sectional imaging. To provide specialist Radiological opinion and reports in HandN imaging. To provide HandN Ultrasound and US guided FNA and Biopsy (under supervision). To supervise junior medical staff in Diagnostic Radiology. To provide radiological expertise in terms of advice for imaging and reporting. To take part in the Radiology Audit, Governance, REAL and other Departmental Meetings. To prepare for and lead on discussions in Specialist HandN MDTMs. In addition to HandN, the fellow will also have the opportunity to participate in acute IP and trauma reporting, which will help maintain their acute and general reporting skills.

Responsibilities

Provide supervised HandN cross sectional imaging and radiology reports.

Offer specialist radiological opinion and reporting in HandN imaging.

Carry out HandN Ultrasound and ultrasound-guided FNA/biopsy under supervision.

Supervise junior medical staff in Diagnostic Radiology.

Contribute to imaging advice and reporting, and participate in departmental governance activities.

Participate in Radiology Audit, REAL and other departmental meetings.

Lead discussions in Specialist HandN MDTMs and support acute IP/trauma reporting to maintain skills.

Qualifications

MB ChB (or equivalent)

MBBS (or equivalent)

Full registration with the GMC and licence to practise (or eligible for)

Eligible for specialist register in Radiology

CCT in Radiology (or equivalent training) or within 6 months of attaining one at time of interview

Subspecialty training in Cross Sectional Radiology

Evidence of continuing medical education, experience of teaching to medical and nursing staff and other disciplines, understanding NHS management structures and the principles of Clinical Governance

Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients

Desirable criteria

Publication of audit results; understanding principles of research

Proven track record in research; publication of research

Experience in obtaining funding for research

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Ability to use patient information systems; ability to organise own time

Punctuality, initiative; motivation to develop new services; ability to cope with stressful situations and undertake responsibility

Good communication skills and leadership qualities; ability to work as part of a multi-professional team

You must have appropriate UK professional registration
