Position Details
Role:
Paediatric Emergency Clinical Fellow
Duration:
Fixed-term 1-year contract, with opportunities to extend
Hours:
As per Departmental needs, will include day shifts, late shifts and night shifts
Requirements:
Applicants must be GMC-registered and have completed UK Foundation training, with some experience in Emergency Medicine. A keen interest in advancing your clinical and practical skills within a supportive team environment is essential.
Responsibilities
Clinical assessment and management of patients attending the Emergency Department.
Majority work in the Paediatric ED, with occasional cross-cover overnight on the adult side.
Develop emergency care skills and procedures required for ED clinicians.
Non-clinical time to develop a specialist interest in paediatric emergency management, with opportunities for research, quality improvement, education and leadership development. Activities will be tailored with supervision.

Requirements and QualificationsEssential
MBBS / MBChB or equivalent; Minimum FY2 equivalent completed
Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current license to practice
Evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies from a UKFPO affiliated Foundation Programme or equivalent by time of appointment in line with GMC standards
Eligibility to work in the UK
Is up to date and fit to practice safely
Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English
Evidence that career progression is consistent with personal circumstances and ability to provide a complete employment history with no unexplained gaps
Desirable
ATLS/ETC and additional postgraduate qualifications or certifications
ALS/Resus Org Instructor
APLS or EPALS certificate
Prior experience in Paediatrics and Paediatric Emergency Medicine
Experience in non-clinical interest areas (e.g., medical education or research)
Audit presentation and involvement in research projects
