We have a clear mandate around developing our existing strengths and relationships whilst increasing our market share in new markets.Our Client and Market Development function ("CMD") is pivotal in making the Firm''s vision a reality. CMD works strategically with our Global Business Units – all with the same vision "to be the global law firm of choice for the world''s leading businesses of today and tomorrow".Clifford Chance''s London Global Financial Markets practices ("GFM") are recognised as market leaders and work with many of the world''s pre-eminent financial institutions and investors.This role sits within the GFM CMD team in London and supports the Debt Finance group, through the delivery and project management of business development, sales support, client focus and marketing initiatives. The key product group pillars that make up the group consist of Leveraged Finance, Infrastructure Finance, Growth Markets, Fund Finance and Corporate Finance. In this role you act as an interface between product group partners, working closely with the wider Global Financial Markets ("GFM") and CMD teams to facilitate the flow of information, highlight cross-selling opportunities and deliver top quality marketing and communications materials, capability statements and pitches.Who you will work withWorking with Clifford Chance''s London Global Financial Markets ("GFM") practices and with many of the world''s pre-eminent financial institutions and investors.This role sits within the GFM CandMD team in London and supports the Firm''s Debt Finance group. In this role you will work closely with the Debt Finance partners in London as well as well as key partners across our international network.What you will be responsible forThe Debt Finance practice is recognised as a market-leading team of lawyers, working with many of the world''s pre-eminent investors, sponsors and lenders in both emerging markets and established financial centres. With primary responsibility for the team in London, this role will also involve supporting global initiatives, working with relevant CMD colleagues across the firm''s global network. This role is business critical in its support to these teams and is an opportunity for a high-energy BD professional to make a huge impact within GFM and more broadly across the Firm.This is a strategic role requiring an individual who will be able to: adopt a problem-solving approach to day-to-day support; guide others in resolving complex issues; play a key role in setting best practice and take the lead on the successful delivery of cross-border and/or cross-practice initiatives.The successful candidate will also be expected to take an active liaison role supporting and connecting with the Firm''s major initiatives, such as the firm''s sector approach, key account programme and in the Private Credit space, which are all key to the Firm''s strategic vision.What you will doThis role requires the individual to deliver effective projectShape the Debt Finance practice''s business planning processProactively spot opportunities and develop positioning statements to impact the pipelineOversee the effective pursuit of opportunities, including everything from coaching lawyers, to developing pricing models, to providing pitching templatesManage the cross-practice production of strategically significant RfP responses, pitches and credential statementsReputation management and marketing communicationsTake an external view with the aim to build profile and pipeline opportunities (e.g. sponsorships, PR and other business development campaigns)Strategic internal and external events to build a communityOversee multiple marcomms projects, including the delivery of directory/awards submissions, league table submissions, client collateral and product positioning statementsSupport global, local and cross-practice initiatives and flow of information across the Debt Finance GroupClient focusTake a lead role in client planning, client development and client feedbackSet up and implement a strategy to increase core client interaction opportunitiesWork with other global sector and Client Development Managers on Debt Finance-related strategic client activity.Line ManagementShape the effectiveness of the CMD team by managing and mentoring individuals across the global the teamBuild strong working relationship with peers and more junior CMD team members across the Firm.QualificationsYour ExperienceExtensive experience of working in business development, ideally within the legal services sector or professional servicesIdeally experience of /an interest in Debt FinanceA track record of delivering across the full lifecycle of a pitch, panel pitch or capability statement requestWell-developed influencing and presentation skills as well as being confident, resilient and focusedThe ability to work effectively and co-operatively with senior business development teamsA client centric view and the ability to translate opportunities into actionable plansA global perspective, with sensitivity to multiple and diverse cultures (international working experience would be an advantage)Excellent prioritising skills with the ability to make judgement calls on where to add valueStrong interpersonal skills and exceptionally strong communication skills, both verbal and written (including strong editing and proofing ability and attention to detail)The ability to work autonomously with little guidanceThe ability to demonstrate a track record of being proactive and delivering high quality work both personally and through a teamExperience of line managementHow we will support youFrom your first day with us, you will have varied opportunities to continuously grow and development your skills and knowledge.
