Primary Teaching Assistant - Autism Unit
Location: South East London
Salary: -440 - -550 per week
Working Hours: Monday to Friday 08.00-16.00
Contract: Full-time

Are you a passionate and experienced Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding role in a supportive school environment? We are seeking a dedicated Primary Teaching Assistant to join a fantastic Primary Mainstream Autism Unit at a welcoming school in South East London.

The Role: Primary Teaching Assistant
* Providing tailored support to pupils with autism, helping them to engage in learning and develop key skills.
* Working closely with teachers and SEN staff to create a positive and structured learning environment.
* Using a range of strategies to support communication, sensory needs, and emotional regulation.
* Encouraging independence and social interaction through personalised interventions.

Requirements: Primary Teaching Assistant
* Previous experience supporting children with autism in a school or specialist setting is essential.
* A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to working with pupils with additional needs.
* Understanding of autism-specific strategies such as PECS, Makaton, or sensory integration (desirable but not essential).
* Strong teamwork and communication skills.
