Responsibilities

The Risk Management Department at Mizuho EMEA is responsible for delivering an independent assessment of the risks taken across all the business activities of Mizuho EMEA, and the revenue generated in relation to these risks. It is also responsible for implementing a risk management framework consistent with the risk appetite and capacity of resources, in agreement with the EMEA CIB strategy and senior stakeholders of Mizuho Group. The department is led by the Chief Risk Officer and is made up of the following teams:

Credit Risk ManagementMarket Risk ManagementContingent Risk ManagementRegulatory and Liquidity Risk ManagementOperational Risk ManagementQuantitative RiskStress TestingRisk Management Planning

What will you be doing?

Evaluating the firm’s credit risk exposure and offering detailed analysis aligned with our risk appetite across counterparties and productsConducting reviews of financial institutions (FIs) and non-bank financial institutions (NBFIs), including hedge funds, insurers, sovereigns, and other investment entitiesPerforming country and sovereign risk assessments and managing ad-hoc limit requestsAssessing new business proposals and bespoke transactions, providing comprehensive recommendationsContributing to risk reporting and investigating exposure discrepancies or limit breachesLiaising with Head Office for limit approvals when requiredCollaborating with Front Office and Senior Credit Officers on limit allocation across productsCoordinating with the Legal team to review credit terms in relevant documentation, including ISDA/CSA and GMRA agreementsMonitoring daily credit updates and rating actions to manage risks proactivelyManaging credit approvals and assessments from end to end, including associated administrationDemonstrating familiarity with lending to FIs and NBFIs, including related legal documentation

What do you need to succeed?

Proven credit analysis experience in investment banking across a wide spectrum of financial institutionsStrong understanding of trading room products (derivatives, repo, fixed income, FX, cash trading)Knowledge of credit risk frameworks, exposure reporting, and risk appetite alignmentExperience analysing bespoke deals and investment banking products, with solid risk interpretationExpertise in country/sovereign risk and hedge fund credit assessmentsConfidence in presenting credit applications to senior forums and committeesStrong numerical and communication skills (written and verbal)Willingness to take on both strategic and procedural tasksProficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and BloombergAbility to assess deals beyond credit metrics, applying strategic thinkingComfort participating in client meetingsCapability to work independently with minimal oversight
