Cable Manufacturing Technician
Location: Newton Abbot
Contract: Fixed-term / Temporary
Duration: December 2026 - April 2027
We are looking for a hands-on Cable Manufacturing Technician to support a bespoke metal coating line within a specialist manufacturing environment.
This role will involve working closely with engineering and production teams, following defined process flows and providing practical feedback from the production floor.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the preparation of cable cores prior to processing.
- Carry out incoming checks on materials and components.
- Support packing and shipping activities in line with defined travellers and procedures.
- Assist operators during cable coating line runs.
- Carry out quality checks throughout the manufacturing process.
- Record and document non-conformances using the company''s issue-tracking system.
- Maintain equipment calibration records.
- Monitor and manage consumables used within the production area.
- Follow engineering-defined process instructions accurately.
- Provide feedback to engineering teams on production and process issues.
- Maintain a high standard of accuracy, quality and housekeeping within the work area.
What We''re Looking For
We would be interested in speaking with candidates who have experience in areas such as:
- Manufacturing or production environments.
- Cable, electronics, engineering or technical assembly.
- Machine operation or production-line support.
- Quality inspection or checking against defined specifications.
- Working from instructions, process sheets or travellers.
- Maintaining accurate production or quality records.
- Equipment calibration or general equipment checks.
Ideal Background
Previous experience within manufacturing, engineering, cable production, electronics, coating, assembly or quality inspection would be advantageous.
The successful candidate should be practical, reliable, comfortable working hands-on and able to follow detailed processes accurately.
