Buyer - construction sector - materials/plant

Are you an experienced buyer with a solid background in construction? We're looking for a proactive, detail-driven individual to join this busy specialist contractor, and help drive purchasing excellence across their projects.

They're a £20m turnover contractor, based in London SE1, operating in the enabling works sector, taking on complex projects in central London (zone one)

What you'll need

• Proven experience in the construction industry
• Strong background in purchasing and procurement
• Thorough understanding of procurement processes, policies, and procedures
• Exceptional multitasking and time management skills
• Proficient in Excel and confident with IT systems
• Cool under pressure and quick to solve problems
• Hands-on experience with Electronic POP systems

What you'll be up to

• Continuously developing and refining their procurement systems
• Sourcing and selecting the best suppliers
• Raising Purchase Orders via Electronic POP system
• Working closely with the Accounts Team to resolve queries
• Processing GRNs (Goods Received Notes)
• Preparing and analyzing weekly and monthly reports
• Maintaining records of all plant and equipment on hire
• Keeping supplier contact details up to date
• Liaising across multiple construction sites
• Ensuring full compliance with internal policies and procedures
