As part of an exciting period of growth, they are looking for an ambitious and commercially focused Fabrication Business Development Manager to develop new business opportunities and grow the customer base across the UK.
The Role
This is a hands-on business development and sales role focused on identifying, developing and securing new manufacturing opportunities.
You will be responsible for building new customer relationships, generating enquiries, securing quotation opportunities and converting prospects into long-term customers.
Working closely with engineering, estimating and production teams, you will play a key role in increasing sales revenue and expanding the company's presence across target industrial markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and develop new business opportunities across engineering, manufacturing and other technically demanding industrial sectors.
- Research and identify target customers with requirements for fabrication, welding, machining, assembly and related manufacturing services.
- Generate and qualify new leads through direct outreach, networking, industry events and customer engagement.
- Develop relationships with buyers, procurement teams, engineers, project managers and senior decision-makers.
- Arrange and attend customer meetings and site visits across the UK.
- Manage opportunities from initial enquiry through to quotation, negotiation and order placement.
- Build, manage and develop a healthy sales pipeline.
- Identify opportunities to increase customer spend and develop repeat and long-term business.
- Work closely with internal engineering and production teams to understand customer requirements and develop appropriate solutions.
- Represent the business at customer sites, exhibitions, trade shows and industry events.
- Maintain accurate CRM records and provide regular pipeline and sales updates.
Essential
- Proven track record in B2B sales and business development within engineering, manufacturing, fabrication or a related technical environment.
- Demonstrable experience of winning new customers and developing existing accounts.
- Strong commercial, sales and negotiation skills.
- Confident communicator with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
- Proven ability to manage a sales pipeline and convert opportunities into orders.
- Self-motivated, commercially driven and results focused.
- Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel nationally.
- Knowledge of fabrication, welding, machining, metalworking or manufacturing processes.
- Experience selling into technically demanding industrial sectors.
- Experience supplying customers within defence, marine, rail, aerospace, automotive, energy, infrastructure or other engineering-led markets.
- Existing contacts within relevant industrial sectors.
- Ability to understand engineering drawings, specifications and customer requirements.
- New customer accounts won.
