Behaviour Mentor

Behaviour Mentor required to support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs at a specialist school in Birmingham. Are you a Behaviour Mentor looking for a rewarding new challenge? Do you have experience supporting young people with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour or barriers to education? This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Behaviour Mentor to join a supportive team and make a genuine difference to students' lives.
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with students who may experience SEMH needs, challenging behaviour and difficulties engaging with education. The Behaviour Mentor will provide pastoral and behavioural support, helping students develop positive relationships, manage their behaviour and engage more successfully with learning.
This Behaviour Mentor role would suit someone who is calm, patient and resilient, with the confidence to build strong relationships with young people and manage challenging situations. Previous experience working as a Behaviour Mentor, Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Youth Worker or within a SEND, SEMH, PRU or Alternative Provision setting would be highly beneficial.
The successful Behaviour Mentor will understand that consistency, clear boundaries and positive relationships are key to helping young people overcome barriers to education.
Job Role:

• Working as a Behaviour Mentor supporting students with SEMH needs.
• Providing individual and small-group Behaviour Mentor support.
• Building positive, trusting relationships with students.
• Supporting students to manage their behaviour and emotions.
• Helping students to recognise and overcome barriers to learning.
• Supporting students to engage positively with lessons and school life.
• Managing challenging behaviour using a calm and consistent approach.
• Supporting students with their social and emotional development.
• Reinforcing positive behaviour, boundaries and expectations.
• Working closely with teachers and the wider pastoral team.
• Supporting students who may struggle with attendance, engagement or regulating their behaviour.
• Encouraging confidence, resilience and independence.
• Contributing to a safe, positive and supportive school environment.
