Long Term Futures are recruiting for two dedicated Behaviour Mentors to join a welcoming primary school in Northfield, Birmingham (B31), rated ''Good'' by Ofsted, from September 2026.
These full-time positions involve supporting pupils across Key Stage 2 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism, ADHD, behavioural challenges and additional learning needs.
With an experienced SEN team, supportive leadership and well-established intervention spaces, the school provides an excellent environment for Behaviour Mentors who are passionate about making a difference to children''s lives and helping them succeed both academically and socially.
The Role
- Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to pupils across Key Stage 2
- Support children with SEMH, Autism, ADHD, behavioural needs and other additional learning needs
- Deliver interventions focused on emotional regulation, social skills, resilience and positive behaviour
- Support pupils both inside and outside of the classroom to maximise engagement and learning
- Assist children with transitions, playtimes, outdoor learning and structured interventions
- Implement behaviour support plans and therapeutic strategies recommended by the SENCO and external professionals
- Build positive and trusting relationships that promote confidence, independence and emotional wellbeing
- Work closely with class teachers, the SENCO, pastoral team and parents to provide consistent support
The Ideal Candidate
- Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent experience)
- Experience supporting children with SEMH, Autism, ADHD or behavioural needs
- Understanding of trauma-informed practice, restorative approaches or PDA strategies
- Experience working with primary-aged pupils
- Calm, resilient and confident managing challenging behaviour
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Team Teach, Behaviour Management or Mental Health training is highly desirable
