Bar Manager

HSL Recruitment are delighted to be working with our client to recruit an experienced and energetic Bar Manager to join their management team.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced hospitality professional who enjoys working in a busy, lively environment and has a genuine passion for delivering excellent customer service, developing teams and maintaining high standards.

About the Role

Our client is a vibrant and busy hospitality venue in the heart of Leamington Spa, offering craft beers brewed on-site, cocktails, food, live music, private events and a busy heated garden marquee.

With live music every weekend and late-night opening on Fridays and Saturdays, this is a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.

As Bar Manager, you will work closely with the General Manager and take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the bar. You will be a visible and hands-on leader, supporting the team during busy services while ensuring excellent standards are maintained.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the General Manager with the day-to-day running of the venue
• Take responsibility for the bar operation and ensure consistently high standards
• Lead, motivate and manage the bar and front-of-house team
• Organise staff rotas and ensure appropriate staffing levels
• Open and close the venue when required
• Train, coach and develop new and existing team members
• Deliver excellent customer service at all times
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation and organisation
• Monitor stock levels, wastage and ordering
• Help control costs and minimise stock loss
• Ensure licensing, health & safety and company procedures are followed
• Deal confidently and professionally with customer queries and complaints
• Support busy evenings, live music, private functions and corporate events
• Attend management meetings and contribute to the continued development of the business
• Act as a senior member of the management team and lead by example

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience as a Bar Manager, Assistant Manager, Duty Manager or in a similar hospitality management role.

You will also:

• Have a genuine passion for hospitality and delivering outstanding customer service
• Be confident managing, motivating and developing a busy team
• Remain calm and organised in a fast-paced environment
• Have excellent communication and leadership skills
• Understand bar operations, stock control and GP management
• Be confident with opening and closing procedures
• Have high standards of cleanliness and presentation
• Be commercially minded and able to identify opportunities to increase sales
• Have a positive, energetic and hands-on approach
• Be comfortable working evenings, weekends and during busy events
• Lead from the front and be prepared to get involved wherever needed

Salary: -35,000+ per annum, depending on experience
