Bar Manager

We''re looking for an experienced bar manager to lead the beverage operation of our rapidly-expanding restaurant and pub business in South Oxfordshire.The George at Upton (near Oxford, Didcot and Newbury, just off the A34 in OX11) has just completed a full £300K refurbishment, and we are currently in the process of applying for AA rosettes. Already regarded as one of the most exciting new hospitality businesses in the area (please see Tripadvisor or Google), recruiting a dedicated bar manager is the next stage as our business develops into a larger quality food-led operation, already with over 30 employees.Working under our General Manager, and alongside our Restaurant Manager, the successful candidate will be able to undertake all aspects of a Bar Manager role which will include ordering, stock control, money-handling, cashing up, bar rotas, cellar management and other general duties. This is a position for a hospitality career professional with the highest service standards seeking long-term employment, not someone in between jobs!While we offer a wide range of draught products, this position is not massively about pouring pints. A wide understanding of current on-trade drinks trends, spirits, strong general knowledge of wine (and even some sommelier skills) would also be useful, as well as the ability to make an exciting range of cocktails, plus non-alcoholic options. Being able to converse confidently and eloquently with customers at the bar, plus recommend, serve and upsell wine to customers at tables is a must.Excellent salary and benefits offered, plus generous tips share for the right candidate. Live-in is also possible if required. Must have own transport. We are also open to a couple, as other positions are available within the business, or at our other site, and we welcome candidates of all ages and backgrounds.Some mid-high-end pub/restaurant and hotel experience would be useful, but above all we are looking for a well-presented team-player with a positive attitude, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure. Strong communication and leadership skills to train and guide younger members of bar and serving staff are also important.
