Mon-Fri, 9.00-5.00pmWhy might this job interest you?An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and self-motivated Clinical Psychologist to join the Berkshire Intensive Support Team.The Intensive Support Team (IST) provides an intensive response to support people with a learning disability at a time when their health needs challenge the service capacity of existing teams.Main duties of the job
Formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of a client’s psychological issues that significantly impair their quality of life based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the client’s problems, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy, across the full range of care settings.Be responsible for implementing a range of psychological interventions for individuals, carers, families and groups, within the inpatient service employed individually and in synthesis, adjusting and refining psychological formulations drawing upon different explanatory models and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses, with particular sensitivity to the therapeutic relationship.Provide specialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to clients formulation, diagnosis and treatment plan.Provide advice, consultation and training to staff working with the client group across a range of agencies and settings, where appropriate.Provide specialist psychological and behavioural assessments of clients referred to the IST upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex psychological data from a variety of sources including psychological (and neuropsychological tests), self-report measures, rating scales, direct structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the clients care.About us

Qualifications
Registered and accredited with Health Care Professional Council (HCPC).Post graduate doctoral qualification in clinical or counselling psychology.Experience
Experience of working with patients who have learning disabilities.NHS experience in a similar post is highly desirable but not essential.Disclosure and Barring Service Check
