Overview

Would you like an opportunity to join a community based nursing team? This post will be working across the city-wide special school nursing service implementing and delivering specialist nursing care in a special school environment. The successful candidate will be required to carry out assessments; provide both planned and responsive clinical care and ensure that local safeguarding policies are adhered to. They will be identified as a role model for the Band 5 Special School Nurses and Enteral Feeding Assistants and will also support education staff and offer advice and support to parents and pupils.We would welcome applications from enthusiastic committed children’s nurses with proven clinical experience who have excellent communication skills and are able to manage their time effectively. An understanding of the needs of children and young people with disability and/or additional health problems is essential. The Special School Nurse will work as part of a team to provide, protect and improve the health and wellbeing of children with a range of health needs in achieving their full health and educational potential.The post holder will be responsible for a caseload and will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and have continuing responsibility for both direct nursing care and training to health and educational staff on the management of nursing issues. The post holder will work in partnership with the Doctor and Therapy Team in assessing, reviewing and meeting the needs of children and young people.

Responsible for management of junior team members (e.g. Band 3 and Band 5) supported by Band 7 and involvement in supervision of student nurse placements.Supporting the Team Leader with management responsibility of the Band 5 nurses, Health Care Assistants, Admin and Clerical staff in their immediate locality.Work as part of a team to provide, protect and improve the health and wellbeing of children with varying health needs; assess, review and meet needs; deliver direct nursing care and training.Work in partnership with the Doctor and Therapy Team to assess, review and meet the needs of children and young people.Qualifications and Requirements

Enthusiastic, committed children’s nurse with proven clinical experience.Excellent communication skills and good time management.Understanding of the needs of children and young people with disability and/or additional health problems is essential.Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and to train health and educational staff on nursing management issues.IMPORTANT: Please check your Trac account regularly as this is how we will communicate with you during the shortlisting and selection process.
