OverviewAs a Band 5 Staff Nurse in our Day Surgery Ward, you will play a key role in delivering safe, compassionate, and high-quality nursing care to patients undergoing a wide range of day case surgical procedures at The London Clinic. You will work across both the Day Surgery Ward and our Walk-In Walk-Out (WIWO) pathway, caring for patients from admission through to safe discharge. Our service supports multiple surgical specialties, including ophthalmic, general surgery, urology, ENT, gynaecology, and orthopaedics.

Key Duties
Preparing patients for theatre and providing expert post-operative recovery care.
Monitoring and assessing patients'' clinical condition, escalating concerns promptly.
Ensuring safe and timely discharge planning tailored to each patient''s needs.
Collaborating with surgeons, anaesthetists, theatre teams, and allied health professionals.
Acting as a mentor and role model, supporting the development of students and new staff.
Working flexibly across both the Day Surgery Ward and WIWO unit, and supporting other clinical areas when required.
Maintaining accurate documentation in line with NMC and TLC standards.
Upholding our values by ensuring patient safety, dignity, and a positive care experience at all times.
Skills and ExperienceEssential Requirements
Registered Nurse (Adult) with current NMC registration
Post-registration experience in an acute surgical setting
Strong knowledge of perioperative and post-operative care, including discharge planning
Competence in patient assessment and IV therapy
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Commitment to team working and delivering high-quality patient-centred care
IT literate with basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Desirable Requirements
Previous experience in a day surgery or short-stay surgical unit
Skills in venepuncture, cannulation, ECG recording, and bladder scanning
Experience in ophthalmic, urology, or ENT nursing
Previous experience in the private healthcare sector
