In support of our portfolio of 2700+ hybrid and open ACCESS scientific journals, you will actively contribute to advancing science, improving health outcomes, and fostering equitable participation in publishing.About the RoleThe role of Associate Scientific Editor sits within the Author Heroes team. Members of our team use scientific expertise and problem-solving skills to improve the author experience and help authors find a suitable home for their paper.ResponsibilitiesEvaluating content as a partner to external editorsImproving the editorial process for editors and reviewers iterativelyEngaging closely with authors to help them improve their manuscriptsManaging the editorial process for papers, from submission through peer review to the final decisionHelping authors increase their odds of success in being published in another journal if rejected from their first choiceRecruit and manage external editors, holding them to the same standardRequirementsMD, or PhD in Computer ScienceWe are especially interested in candidates with doctoral or post-doctoral experience in fields such as bio-informatics or surgery-related topicsDemonstrate a professional level of written and spoken EnglishDemonstrate an experimental, results-driven, and enthusiastic work attitudeHave a record of having published papers in scientific journalsStay technology-savvy, familiar with online platforms, social media, and digital contentExhibit good communication skills and excellent written and spoken EnglishShow broad scientific interest and a desire to serve and help customers in the scientific and clinical community, including authors, editors, and reviewersWork in a way that works for youWe promote a healthy work/life balance across the organization.
