Associate Director (Structural Engineering)
I'm currently working with a highly respected structural engineering consultancy in Hertfordshire that is looking to appoint an Associate Director to join its growing leadership team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Chartered Structural Engineer who is ready to take on a senior leadership role within a thriving business. You'll work closely with the Partners, helping to lead an established team, manage key client relationships, oversee project delivery and play a significant part in the continued growth of the office.
The consultancy has an exceptionally strong pipeline of work across a wide range of sectors, including residential, commercial, healthcare, industrial, refurbishment and new build projects. They are known for delivering high-quality engineering solutions and have built an excellent reputation with both repeat and new clients.
The Role
This is a varied position that combines technical excellence with leadership and commercial responsibility. Responsibilities include:
- Leading the delivery of structural engineering projects from concept through to completion.
- Acting as the senior technical lead on complex and high-value schemes, providing guidance and quality assurance across the team.
- Managing client relationships and becoming a trusted point of contact for key accounts.
- Overseeing project programmes, budgets and fee management to ensure successful project delivery.
- Mentoring and developing Engineers and Technicians, supporting their professional growth.
- Working alongside senior management to help shape the future direction of the business, contributing to recruitment, resource planning and strategic growth.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- Chartered status (MIStructE or MICE).
- A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Significant experience delivering structural design projects across a variety of sectors.
- Strong technical knowledge of UK design standards and building materials.
- Previous experience leading teams, managing clients and overseeing project delivery.
- Excellent communication skills with the confidence to build lasting client relationships.
- Experience working on both new build and refurbishment projects, with residential sector experience highly desirable.
