You will support the growth of Mechanical design services in the UK and internationally across a range of projects. You will ensure compliance to relevant engineering standards, meeting the client remit, relevant legislation, company standards, and client procedures. You will be based in our Central London office.Responsibilities
To support growth of the Egis team, recruitment of technical staff and mentoring of junior engineersYou may be required to act in the role of Mechanical CRE within rail projects; responsible for the technical mechanical deliverables across the projectPlan and co-ordinate the activities of the mechanical design team (CAD/BIM, engineers, expert resources)Liaise with Client’s team for related issues or decisions, represent design teams in meetings, provide technical opinion or support as neededProactively review design documentation to ensure compliance with standards and requirementsReview, evaluate and implement industry standards to ensure compliance of engineering deliverablesCoordinate the Quality aspects of the mechanical sub-systems deliverables as per the project Quality Management plan principlesReview and approve deliverables, act as a technical control point across projectsMaintain and develop team competency within your discipline, including:
Competency assessmentProfessional reviewsTraining planGuidance and mentoring to junior team membersSupport the senior team in growing the technical capability of the discipline/business
Support the senior team to implement efficient processes to manage safety assurance (CDM, CSM-RA and interoperability), and Verification and Validation (VandV) technical assurancePromote sustainable design and development (Eco-Design)Promotion and encouragement of innovationOther Opportunities
Working on opportunities across the UK and international business to support growth of revenue and capabilityProjects for multiple commissions across the UK and international businessTechnical Lead for specific assignments or projects with responsibility for all EDC production activities and outputsQualifications
Essential :
BSc or equivalent in a numerate, scientific or engineering subjectChartered Engineer/Technician membership or equivalent professional statusExtensive experience in engineering/technical functions, with experience as CRE/CEM in major infrastructure/transportation projectsAbility to communicate effectively to deliver on time to programmeProject and team-running experience in UK consultancy, client, or contractor organisationExcellent relationship management skills with the ability to engage, negotiate and manage stakeholders and suppliersExcellent engineering, analytical and problem-solving abilitiesExperience of working in an engineering production environmentGood knowledge of UK design standards (e.g., Network Rail, HS2, TfL, National Highways)Excellent management skills to support, mentor and animate a team of engineers and techniciansExcellent knowledge of regulations (CDM, CSM, RIR)
Desirable :
Knowledge of railway infrastructure/highways systems and operating requirementsUnderstanding of interdisciplinary work within rail or highways environmentsExperience in design and build projectsUnderstanding of multi-disciplinary design delivery and design stage gatesExperience working with offshore global design production centresAppreciation of environmental issues in engineering, including low carbon designUnderstanding of BIM standards, design integration procedures and relevant legislationKnowledge of quality assurance
