Company Overview: A quality focused housing developer are looking for an Assistant Site Manager to join their ongoing contract in Leicester. This role is ideal for a candidate with solid experience in new build housing, particularly within second fix, handover, and snagging stages.
Job DescriptionAs an Assistant Site Manager, you support the Site Manager by overseeing plots from second fix through to handover. You ensure that quality standards are consistently met and that work progresses according to programme schedules. Your role involves close site supervision, coordination with subcontractors, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities- Assist with planning and organising daily site activities to ensure timely completion of work stages from second fix to final handover.
- Supervise subcontractors and labour teams to maintain quality, productivity, and safety standards.
- Conduct quality inspections and undertake snagging to identify and resolve defects prior to handover.
- Ensure compliance with site health and safety policies, including risk assessments and method statements.
- Maintain accurate records of site progress, labour, materials, and any issues arising.
- Support the Site Manager in liaising with clients, suppliers and external stakeholders as required.
- Assist in coordinating inspections and approvals with building control and other regulatory bodies.
- Promote a positive working environment and encourage effective communication across all site operatives.
- Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) certificate.
- Valid Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card.
- Current First Aid at Work qualification or equivalent.
- Full driving licence valid in the United Kingdom.
- Previous experience working within new build housing construction, particularly in second fix and handover phases.
- Demonstrable experience in site supervision or assistant management roles within a construction environment.
- Knowledge of snagging processes and defect resolution.
- Strong understanding of construction methods and building regulations relevant to residential developments.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Good communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with subcontractors, clients and site teams.
- Competent in maintaining site documentation and reporting.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of health and safety on site.
- Full-time contract position based on site in Leicester, East Midlands.
- Site environment with exposure to variable weather conditions and manual handling activities.
- Use of personal protective equipment is mandatory on site.
- Working hours generally align with industry standard site hours, with occasional flexibility required to meet project deadlines.
