Assistant Site Engineer

We are seeking an Assistant Site Engineer / Assistant Engineering Surveyor to join our team, supporting experienced Engineering Surveyors across a range of construction projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with at least two years’ relevant experience who is looking to develop their technical surveying and site engineering skills within a professional construction environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with Engineering Surveyors and site teams, undertaking high-accuracy surveying, setting-out and site engineering activities across multiple projects.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting Engineering Surveyors with the delivery of precision surveying and site engineering activities.
• Undertaking topographical, measured building and 3D laser scanning surveys.
• Establishing and verifying gridlines, benchmarks and datums.
• Carrying out high-accuracy as-built surveys and maintaining accurate survey records.
• Undertaking site setting-out using Leica TS16 or equivalent total stations.
• Establishing, transferring and checking survey control across construction sites.
• Assisting with the interpretation of construction drawings and specifications.
• Working closely with site management, engineers, subcontractors and other project stakeholders to ensure accurate setting-out and survey information.
• Supporting the Engineering Surveyors with survey data, records and project documentation.
• Travelling between multiple project sites as required.

• A minimum of 2 years'' professional experience in construction surveying, site engineering or a closely related discipline.
• A formal technical qualification such as HNC, BTEC or equivalent in civil engineering, surveying, construction or a related field.
• Practical experience with surveying equipment and instrumentation.
• An understanding of construction drawings, setting-out principles and survey control.
• Experience with surveying and associated software would be advantageous.
• A full UK driving licence, as the role will involve regular travel between multiple sites.
• A strong eye for detail and a methodical approach to technical work.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both site and technical teams.
• A willingness to learn and develop towards a more senior Engineering Surveyor role.
