Our client is a well-established structural steel fabricator, known for exceptional and iconic projects across the UK. They''re looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team and build a career in structural steel.

This is a great opportunity for someone early in their QS career to develop within a specialist environment, working alongside experienced commercial and estimating teams on live projects.

What you''ll do

• Support the QS team with cost tracking, valuations and reporting across live projects
• Assist with measuring and pricing variations, and preparing applications for payment
• Help prepare subcontractor packages, including procurement, orders and valuations
• Track project costs against budget and flag variances
• Assist with the preparation of final accounts
• Liaise with site teams, suppliers and subcontractors to gather accurate cost information
• Support the wider commercial team with reporting and administrative duties as required

What we''re looking for

• Some experience in a commercial, QS or estimating support role (construction or steel sector preferred, but not essential)
• Studying towards, or interested in studying towards, a QS-related qualification (degree, HNC/HND or equivalent)
• Strong numeracy and attention to detail
• Good communication skills, comfortable liaising with site and supplier contacts
• Confident with Excel and general IT systems
• Organised, proactive, and keen to learn
