Duties for the role of Assistant Planner include:

• Supporting the preparation and submission of planning applications and related documentation
• Undertaking planning research and reviewing national, regional and local planning policy
• Assisting with site appraisals, planning assessments and development proposals
• Preparing reports, presentations, briefing notes and other client-facing materials
• Monitoring planning applications, appeals and other planning processes
• Supporting senior colleagues with project management and client instructions

Skills and experience for the role of Assistant Planner:

• A relevant degree and/or postgraduate qualification in Planning or a related subject
• Some relevant planning experience, whether gained within consultancy, local government or another relevant environment
• An understanding of the UK planning system and current planning policy
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent research and analytical abilities
• Good attention to detail and organisational skills
• The ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines
• Confidence working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
• A proactive approach and willingness to take responsibility
• An interest in the development sector and the commercial context in which planning decisions are made
