Assistant Manager - Convenience Retail - Leamington Spa

Salary: -30,255 | Hours: Full Time, 40 hours per week

We are looking for a motivated and hands-on Assistant Manager to support the daily operation of a busy convenience store. This is an excellent opportunity for a retail professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about customer service, team leadership, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Store Operations

• Support the day-to-day running of the store.
• Manage stock replenishment across ambient, fresh and frozen products.
• Oversee deliveries, stock rotation, waste control, date checks and reductions.
• Maintain high standards of merchandising, cleanliness and product availability.
• Operate tills, handle cash procedures and assist with store opening and closing.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety and food safety requirements.

Team Leadership

• Lead, motivate and develop store colleagues.
• Create staff rotas to ensure effective store coverage.
• Deliver coaching, performance reviews and ongoing feedback.
• Support employee relations issues in a fair and professional manner.

Customer Service

• Deliver excellent customer service standards.
• Resolve customer queries and complaints efficiently.
• Build strong relationships with customers and the local community.
• Encourage customer loyalty and a positive store reputation.

Commercial Performance

• Help achieve store sales, profitability and operational KPIs.
• Monitor waste, shrinkage, availability and overall store performance.
• Control costs including labour and utilities.
• Produce accurate operational and financial information when required.

About You

• Previous retail supervisory or management experience is preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
• Customer-focused with a proactive, hands-on approach.
• Able to multitask and perform well in a busy retail environment.
• Flexible to work shifts, weekends and bank holidays.
• Commercially aware with strong decision-making skills.

Important Information

• Assessment Day: 1st October.
• Successful candidates may be invited to a second-stage interview.
• First 9 weeks of training will be based in Birmingham.
• Guaranteed at least one day off every weekend.
