About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Assistant Estimator to join our pre-construction team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in estimating within a well-established construction business delivering high-quality projects across a variety of sectors.
Working alongside experienced Estimators and the wider pre-construction team, you will assist in the preparation of competitive tenders, cost plans and estimates for projects ranging from refurbishment and restoration works to new-build developments.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of accurate cost estimates and tender submissions.
- Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
- Carry out quantity take-offs and measurements.
- Obtain quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Analyse quotations to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Help prepare Bills of Quantities and pricing schedules.
- Support the Estimating team in compiling tender documents.
- Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors and internal departments.
- Maintain accurate estimating records and cost databases.
- Assist with value engineering exercises and cost-saving initiatives.
- Attend site visits and pre-tender meetings where required.
- Ensure tender submissions are completed accurately and on time.
- Previous experience within the construction industry, ideally in an estimating, quantity surveying or commercial support role.
- A trade background within the construction industry is highly desirable, particularly in carpentry, bricklaying, joinery, groundwork, general building or a similar construction trade, as this practical knowledge will support the estimating process.
- Alternatively, experience in estimating, quantity surveying or another commercial construction role will also be considered.
- A relevant qualification in Construction, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (or currently working towards one) would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Good numerical, analytical and organisational skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- A positive attitude, willingness to learn and a desire to build a long-term career in estimating.
