This role offers the opportunity to be part of a team delivering key highway projects across the city. You will support the provision of cost-effective consultancy services, help manage projects from feasibility through delivery, and ensure work meets statutory, regulatory, and council objectives. This is a 1-year opening assignment with hybrid working arrangements, giving you the chance to contribute to meaningful improvements in Manchester’s transport infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in the delivery of highway projects to agreed time, cost, and quality standards.

Support contract administration and monitor contractor performance.

Work with stakeholders and colleagues to ensure project briefs are met.

Contribute to collaborative working across council departments.

Assist with project budgets, ensuring income and expenditure are closely monitored.

Represent the council in consultations and public engagement where required.

A degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline.

Knowledge of highways, engineering design, and project delivery.

Strong organisational, communication, and financial management skills.

Ability to problem-solve and adapt to change.
