About the Role
An Art Teacher is required to deliver creative instruction to Key Stages 3 and 4 pupils in Birmingham. This full-time, long-term post involves teaching small classes of students with social, emotional, and mental health needs, including those excluded from mainstream schooling. The successful candidate will plan and deliver accessible lessons that foster engagement through artistic expression. A recognised QTS qualification and prior experience supporting varied learning requirements are essential. Daily pay ranges from £178 to £240. This specialist school is looking for an experienced Art Teacher to join their team on a long-term basis to teach Art across Key Stages 3 and 4.
As an Art Teacher, you will be teaching small classes of Key Stage 3 and 4 students with SEMH needs and those who have been excluded from mainstream education. The Art Teacher will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging Art lessons that are accessible to students with different learning needs. This role would suit a QTS Art Teacher or an experienced Art Teacher with a strong understanding of SEND. The successful Art Teacher will have a calm and patient approach to classroom management, alongside a genuine passion for Art and helping students develop their confidence and skills.
Job Role:
- Teaching Art to with SEMH needs.
- Planning and delivering engaging Art lessons for small classes.
- Adapting Art lessons to meet the individual needs and abilities of students.
- Working closely with Teaching Assistants and the wider SEND team.
- Building positive relationships with students and encouraging participation.
- Supporting students to overcome academic, social and emotional barriers.
- Creating a safe, welcoming and positive learning environment.
- Using Art and creative activities to develop confidence, independence and self-expression.
- Working alongside an experienced and supportive team of SEND Teachers and support staff.
