Applications Engineer
Are you an Electrical Engineer with strong CAD skills looking for a varied role where you can take ownership of technical projects from customer order through to manufacture?
We are recruiting an Applications Engineer to join an established engineering team in West Yorkshire. This is initially a 6-month temporary position with the potential to become permanent, offering exposure to technically varied projects within an experienced and supportive engineering environment.
You will work closely with customers, suppliers, manufacturing teams and internal departments, helping ensure technical requirements are understood, documented and delivered accurately.

What you will be doing
As Applications Engineer, you will be responsible for the engineering and technical management of customer orders relating to electrical equipment and switchgear.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Producing technical documentation including electrical diagrams, layouts, arrangements, procedures and technical manuals
- Preparing manufacturing documentation to support production
- Producing material requisitions for sub-suppliers
- Liaising directly with customers on technical matters throughout each project
- Working with internal departments to ensure customer requirements are delivered correctly
- Carrying out detailed technical reviews
- Supporting manufacturing teams with design and production queries
- Helping resolve technical issues during the manufacturing process
- Supporting and sharing technical knowledge with Technicians and Apprentices
- Contributing to customer meetings and technical discussions where required
To be considered for this Applications Engineer role, you will need:
- HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification
- Experience using AutoCAD and/or Inventor
- A strong electrical engineering background
- The ability to interpret and produce technical engineering documentation
- Confidence communicating with customers, suppliers and internal engineering teams
- Good commercial awareness alongside a strong focus on safety, quality and accuracy

The role offers a salary of -35,000 - -45,000 depending on experience.
The position is initially offered on a 6-month temporary basis with the potential to become permanent.
