We have an opportunity for enthusiastic and motivated Sonographers to join a vibrant, friendly, supportive team providing a wide range of ultrasound examinations. We are looking for candidates with experience in one or more of these areas: obstetrics, gynaecology, general and MSK ultrasound.

Main duties of the jobTo work as a clinical sonographer delivering a high quality ultrasound service within a 7 day working pattern. To be an effective member of the Department of Radiology, providing a high standard of imaging and patient care. Manage your own lists, perform and report a range of ultrasound examinations, participate in audit and support trainee sonographers.

Detailed Job Description and Main ResponsibilitiesDIMENSIONS OF JOB: cross-site working across Wexham Park Hospital, Heatherwood, St Mark’s and King Edward VII Hospitals as well as the new CDC site in Slough. To work as a clinical sonographer delivering a high quality ultrasound service.
Job Summary
Perform a range of obstetric and/or non-obstetric ultrasound examinations
Produce high quality ultrasound reports under the delegation of the lead radiologist for Ultrasound, in accordance with accepted practice and protocols within the Obstetrics Department
Overall responsible for contributing to providing a high quality and efficient ultrasound service
Maintain high standards of the department by contributing to individual and team objectives
Supervise students working within the department
Purpose of Job
Undertake duties as a Specialist Sonographer
Perform a range of ultrasound examinations
Produce high quality ultrasound reports in accordance with accepted practice and protocols within the Radiology Department
Ensure the quality of work is audited at all stages
Maintain high standards of the department by contributing to individual and team objectives
Key Tasks and ResponsibilitiesService Delivery and Quality
Maintain good communication and relationships with stakeholders including patients and other users of the service
Communicate results and findings to patients and relatives
Provide information to obtain verbal consent before undertaking any ultrasound procedure
Participate in audit to ensure clinical and non-clinical aspects meet quality standards
Personnel and Training
Maintain CPD and own level of competence
Supervise trainee Sonographers, Consultants and SPRs in OandG; support training and assessment
Induct new staff; supervise and train student radiographers and trainee specialist radiographers – ultrasound
Investors in People
Brief staff on Trust objectives, plans and developments
Set objectives and identify training needs for staff; ensure annual appraisals
Induct new staff with relevant training; discuss expected outcomes of training and review results

QualificationsEssential criteria
PgC Medical Ultrasound CASE accredited
Non-CASE accredited Ultrasound qualification
Desirable criteria
MSc Ultrasound
PgD Medical Ultrasound CASE accredited

Experience
Experienced Sonographer
Practical ultrasound training
Experience of undertaking audit in ultrasound
NHS ultrasound experience
Desirable experience
Experience in training other clinical users / staff in ultrasound
Experience in equipment selection and evaluation in ultrasound
