The post is accountable for the successful delivery of a comprehensive, efficient and secure Health Records service, including overall responsibility for all departmental health records services supporting acute, community and primary care sectors, inpatient and outpatient administrative services, medical/legal services, records storage / retrieval, clinical coding, statutory returns and data quality aspects of health records and associated information services.Responsibilities
Overall NHS Lothian responsibility for all aspects of the Health Records Service and Health Records Information, including the provision of expert advice on Health Records matters and reporting and monitoring of information to Clinical Divisions.Investigate, advise, communicate and report on highly complex and contentious Health Records information (such as those affecting NHS Lothian waiting times and National Returns) within NHS Lothian and externally to NSS/PHS and the Scottish Executive.Interpret, develop, implement and update policies in relation to the management of Health Records Service, and provide strategic planning and business case information.Ensure strict compliance with Health Records Standard Operating Procedures used across all health records departmental functions to deliver an efficient and effective service.Deliver financial balance across the Health Records function.Important notices
