z/OS Mainframe Systems Programmer

for our growing team in the UK, with a flexible work arrangement of remote and on-site in Sheffield.Overview

The role of a z/OS Mainframe Systems Programmer involves upgrading and supporting the z/OS operating system and ISV products, mainly from IBM and Computer Associates (CA).Your responsibilities will include:

Performance monitoring using Omegamon, RMF, SMF, and SplunkInvolvement in performance-related tasks and projects such as WLM and PR/SM changesUpgrading, maintaining, and supporting the z/OS operating systemUpgrading, maintaining, and supporting ISV products from vendors like IBM and BroadcomThe ideal candidate will have the following experience and qualifications:

Extensive experience in z/OS Mainframe systems programming (essential)Knowledge of iWS scheduling softwareKnowledge of SASKnowledge of Parallel SysplexDesirable: knowledge of MXG and MICSProficiency in z/OS, SMP/E, TSO/ISPF, USS, SDSF, JCL, RexxFamiliarity with IBM and Broadcom products and ability to work independentlyExcellent problem determination skills and a team-oriented mindsetWillingness to provide off-hours support and participate in an on-call rotaAbility to set and achieve challenging goals exceeding standards in the fieldStrong written and spoken communication skills, capable of articulating complex information effectivelyAbility to build effective networks across business areas and develop trusting relationshipsExperience in creating and deploying comprehensive business/operating plans that deliver resultsUnderstanding of risk management and compliance with regulatory processesAdditional skills that are a plus but not essential include: assembler, automation, job scheduling, ACF2/RACF, GDPS, SAS, MXG skills.Benefits
