About the School:

We''re partnering with a forward-thinking specialist SEND trust in Oldham - a multi-school community with a well-established reputation for delivering exceptional support to young people with complex learning, social, emotional, and mental health needs. Underpinned by a shared vision of inclusion, high expectations, and trauma-informed practice, the schools within this trust are places where staff are valued, developed, and inspired to do their best work. If you believe every young person deserves a chance to thrive, this could be the role for you.

About the Role:

As a Youth Mentor, you''ll work at the heart of a close-knit, dedicated team supporting some of the most complex and vulnerable young people in Oldham. This isn''t a role for the faint-hearted - it''s for someone who understands that behaviour is communication, that progress isn''t always linear, and that showing up consistently for a young person can be the most powerful intervention of all.

Whether you''re delivering one-to-one mentoring, leading group sessions, supporting in the classroom, or helping a student navigate a crisis moment, your impact will be felt every single day.

What We''re Looking For:

  • Experience in a mentoring, youth work, behaviour support, or pastoral role - ideally within a SEND, SEMH, or alternative provision setting
  • A strong understanding of the challenges faced by young people with social, emotional, and mental health needs
  • Emotionally resilient, calm under pressure, and solutions-focused in complex situations
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills - with students, families, and wider professionals
  • A creative, energetic approach to re-engaging young people who have disengaged from traditional education
  • A background in psychology, social work, youth services, or mental health is a strong advantage

To Be Eligible You Must:

  • Hold the Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced DBS on the update service, or be willing to apply for a new one
  • Provide two professional references from child-related roles
  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
