Red Snapper Recruitment are recruiting for a Youth Justice Worker on behalf of our client based in Sandwell. The Youth Justice Worker will support youth females who may be at risk of offending and are known to either the Youth Offending Service or West Midlands Police, or who may be having difficulties at school.
This is a part-time role working 22.5 hours 3 days (potentially Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (7.5 hours per day)
The post is paying -15,160.95 FTE (-25,268.25 pro rata).
Main duties and responsibilities
- Deliver evidence based one to one intervention, group work and advice in a variety of locations such as BCWA estates and Youth Offending Service Estates with an aim to deter young people from offending behaviour.
- Ensure that all interventions delivered are age appropriate, child led to reduce risk and culturally sensitive to young people.
- Offer general awareness of healthy/unhealthy relationships, confidence & self-esteem, managing & understanding emotions, promoting resilience and managing challenges, and identifying and developing healthy coping strategies, to address the pathways to offending.
- To be a single point of contact (SPOC) for The Youth Offending Service and West Midlands Police, and provide advice, guidance and evidence-based support assessing risk where required.
- Provide emotional and practical support and advocacy to young people with a holistic approach. Support and methodology should be specific/varied to meet the young person''s needs including risk assessment and management plans with a goal to reduce the risk level and increase safety.
- To build effective relationships with stakeholders, using a multi-agency approach, working directly with all key agency partners to ensure that young people''s plans are coordinated and information is shared effectively and appropriately. This will include the preparation and presentation of reports and plans.
Person Specification
- GCSEs English and Mathematics - Grade C or above. Minimum NVQ Level 3 in relevant subject, preferably working with children.
- Experience of working with children/young people, acknowledging safeguarding concerns and responding appropriately.
- Experience of working with/signposting families with complex needs, such as mental health and substance misuse.
- Experience of using risk assessments and appropriate interventions tools to manage and identify risk.
- Experience of working/liaising within a multi-agency setting with a range of stakeholders and representing clients/organization an external meeting.
- Experience of responding in an emergency (personal or professional)
Additional Requirements
- May require some work outside of normal office hours
- Full driving license with willingness to use own vehicle
- DBS check to be undertaken
- Eligibility to work in the UK
