About the Role
This full-time Youth Development Worker post in Bideford offers £15.34 hourly, 37 hours weekly, Monday to Friday within an 8am–9pm band. The temporary contract runs initially for six weeks, starting as soon as possible, and an enhanced DBS check is required. Based within a supported accommodation service, the successful applicant gives one-to-one key worker assistance to people aged 16–25, several of whom have faced homelessness or other difficult situations. Duties include creating and reviewing individual support and action plans, updating risk assessments, and helping residents build confidence alongside practical abilities for independent living. Strong communication, record-keeping and safeguarding knowledge suit this frontline position.

We are recruiting for an experienced and passionate Youth Development Worker to join a supported accommodation service for young people aged 16–25 in Bideford.
This is a rewarding frontline role supporting young people who may have experienced homelessness or challenging circumstances, helping them develop the confidence and practical skills needed to move towards independent living.
The Role
You will:
- Provide 1-to-1 key worker support to young people aged 16–25
- Develop and review individual support and action plans
- Complete and update risk assessments and risk management plans
- Support young people with tenancy and housing management
- Assist with Universal Credit, PIP, Housing Benefit and other benefit applications
- Help with budgeting, bills and managing finances
- Support access to education, training and employment
- Work closely with external agencies including mental health services, domestic abuse services and housing providers
- Help young people develop essential independent living skills
- Support successful move-on into longer-term accommodation
- Provide creative, person-centred support tailored to individual needs
About You
We are looking for someone with experience working with young people, homelessness, supported housing or vulnerable individuals.
You will need excellent communication and relationship-building skills, a calm and resilient approach, and the ability to manage support plans, risks and challenging situations professionally.
An Enhanced DBS will be required for this position.
