Young Person Support Worker



Durham | -1720 per Hour

We''re recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate Young Person Support Worker to support children and young people with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) in the Durham area.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work on a 1:1 basis, helping young people achieve positive outcomes, build independence, and access enriching experiences in a safe and supportive environment.



The Role

You will provide person-centred support tailored to the individual''s needs, helping them to develop confidence, independence, emotional resilience and life skills.

No two days are the same, and responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting young people within the home and community.
  • Promoting independence and daily living skills.
  • Assisting with social activities and community engagement.
  • Supporting emotional regulation and wellbeing.
  • Implementing support plans and behaviour strategies.
  • Building positive and trusting professional relationships.
  • Working alongside families, schools and professionals.
  • Recording observations and maintaining accurate records.
  • Safeguarding and advocating for the young person''s needs.

  • Experience supporting children, young people or vulnerable adults.
  • A caring, patient and empathetic approach.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.

  • Ability to work independently and use initiative.

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)

Compliance Requirements

Due to the nature of the role, successful applicants will be required to complete:

  • Enhanced DBS check (Child Workforce)
  • Right to Work checks
  • Employment reference checks
  • Full employment history verification
  • Relevant training certificates where applicable
  • Safeguarding training compliance
  • Completion of mandatory company training

A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle may be advantageous for some placements.
