Help Young Carers Build Confidence, Connections and Their Future
Are you passionate about supporting young people? Do you enjoy creating engaging activities, building trusted relationships and helping teenagers reach their potential?
At Action for Carers Surrey, we’re looking for a motivated and compassionate Young Carers Activities Coordinator to join our team.
This is an opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of young carers aged 12-16. Through youth clubs, social activities and holiday programmes, you’ll help young people take a break from their caring responsibilities, connect with others who understand their experiences and develop the confidence and resilience they need to thrive.
About the Role
You’ll plan and deliver a regular programme of evening youth clubs, weekend activities and school holiday sessions across Epsom & Esher, creating safe, welcoming spaces where young carers can relax, have fun and be themselves.
This is a varied and rewarding role. You’ll build strong relationships with young people and their families, work closely with schools and community partners, and help identify hidden young carers who may benefit from support.
Alongside delivering activities, you’ll provide informal support and encouragement to young carers, helping them build resilience, develop life skills and think positively about their future aspirations.
We’re Looking For Someone Who:
- Has experience working directly with children and young people.
- Can build positive, trusted relationships with young people and families.
- Has experience planning and delivering engaging activities, workshops or group sessions.
- Understands safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.
- Is confident working with schools, community organisations and partner agencies.
- Is organised, proactive and able to manage a varied workload.
- Shares our values of Focus, Inclusion, Respect and Excellence.
- Holds a full UK driving licence and has access to a vehicle.
Experience in roles such as Youth Worker, Family Support Worker, Learning Mentor, Pastoral Mentor, Teaching Assistant, Children’s Support Worker, Community Engagement Worker or similar would be particularly valuable.
Working Pattern
- 18 hours per week, across three days.
- Wednesday must be a working day.
- Burpham office, with regular travel across Epsom & Esher.
- Up to two evenings per month (until 8.00pm).
- One weekend day per month.
- Availability during school holidays is required.
- Occasional overnight stays may be required to support residential activities.
Why Join Us?
At Action for Carers Surrey, you’ll be part of a friendly, supportive team dedicated to improving the lives of unpaid carers across the county.
Most importantly, you’ll see first-hand the difference your work makes, helping young carers build confidence, make friends and enjoy the childhood experiences every young person deserves.
