Year 6 Teaching Assistant

TimePlan are recruiting for a welcoming and supportive primary school in New Malden is seeking an experienced and dedicated Year 6 Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled TA who is confident supporting pupils in Upper Key Stage 2 and helping children with additional learning needs achieve their full potential.



The Role

As a Year 6 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to support pupils both in the classroom and through targeted intervention sessions. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting Year 6 pupils with their learning across the curriculum.
  • Planning and delivering targeted maths and reading interventions to raise attainment and close learning gaps.
  • Providing tailored support for children with additional needs, including Dyslexia, ASD, and ADHD.
  • Encouraging pupil engagement, confidence, and independence.
  • Supporting the teacher with classroom preparation and learning activities.
  • Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teaching staff.
  • Building positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
  • Assisting with lunchtime and playground supervision where required.


What We''re Looking For

  • At least 5 years'' experience working within a primary school setting.
  • Proven experience supporting Upper Key Stage 2 pupils, particularly Year 5 and Year 6.
  • Experience planning and leading intervention programmes for maths and reading.
  • Strong understanding of supporting pupils with Dyslexia, ASD, and ADHD.
  • Experience supporting children with English as an Additional Language (EAL) is desirable.
  • Experience supervising breaktimes and lunchtime duties is desirable.
  • A patient, proactive, and adaptable approach.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A genuine passion for helping children succeed academically and personally.
