Supply Desk is delighted to be working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive primary school in the Cippenham area of Slough (SL1) to appoint a passionate and dedicated Year 6 Class Teacher. This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative school community and play a key role in preparing pupils for their transition to secondary education.
This role would suit an enthusiastic and motivated teacher with a strong understanding of Upper Key Stage 2 expectations and SATs preparation, who is committed to helping pupils achieve their full potential during this pivotal stage of their education.
The RoleAs a Year 6 Teacher, you will support pupils in consolidating their learning, building confidence, and developing the skills needed for a successful transition to secondary school. You will play a vital role in preparing pupils for SATs while ensuring a broad, engaging, and enriching curriculum experience.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and deliver engaging, creative, and differentiated Year 6 lessons in line with the KS2 national curriculum
- Support pupils’ progress in reading, writing, maths, and SPaG
- Prepare pupils effectively for KS2 SATs and the transition to secondary school
- Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment
- Monitor and assess pupil progress, using data to inform teaching and targeted interventions
- Support children with a range of abilities, including those with SEN
- Promote pupils’ confidence, resilience, and independence
- Build strong relationships with parents, carers, and colleagues
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and the wider school team
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – desirable
- Experience teaching in Key Stage 2, ideally Year 6 or Upper KS2
- Strong understanding of KS2 curriculum expectations and SATs preparation
- Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
- Engaging, adaptable, and nurturing teaching style
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work full-time in the Cippenham area (SL1) from September
- Previous experience teaching Year 6
- Strong understanding of SATs frameworks and assessment requirements
- Experience using assessment data to accelerate pupil progress
- Experience supporting children with SEN
- Commitment to inclusive, high-quality teaching and learning
- Experience supporting pupils with transition to secondary education
