Veritas Education is delighted to be working in partnership with a welcoming, inclusive and community-centred primary school in Colne, Lancashire, to recruit an enthusiastic and dedicated Year 5 Class Teacher for a full-time maternity cover position from September 2026 to February 2027.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering a broad, engaging and aspirational Upper Key Stage 2 curriculum while creating a classroom environment where pupils feel safe, valued, challenged and supported to achieve their very best.

The school is seeking a teacher with recent Year 5 experience and a strong understanding of the Upper Key Stage 2 curriculum who can quickly become an integral member of the team and make a positive impact from the outset.



The successful candidate will:

  • Have recent experience teaching Year 5 or within Upper Key Stage 2.
  • Deliver engaging, creative and well-structured lessons that inspire curiosity and a love of learning.
  • Demonstrate excellent classroom management and behaviour management skills.
  • Set high expectations for behaviour, progress, presentation and achievement.
  • Use effective assessment strategies to identify next steps and support pupil progress.
  • Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including those with SEND and additional learning needs.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a supportive and dedicated staff team.
  • Build positive, professional relationships with pupils, parents, carers and colleagues.
  • Be committed to creating an inclusive learning environment where every child feels valued and able to thrive.
