SEND Teaching Assistant – Full Time | North Shields
Hours: Monday to Friday | 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM
Contract: Starting 6th October – Christmas (likely to extend)

We are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in North Shields. This full-time role is to support a Year 2 pupil with Autism on a 1:1 basis, helping them settle into school and thrive both socially and academically.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support to a Year 2 pupil with Autism

• Deliver tailored learning and social-emotional interventions

• Encourage independence, communication, and social skills

• Help create a calm, structured, and positive classroom environment

• Work closely with the class teacher, SENDCo, and external specialists

What We’re Looking For

• Experience supporting children with Autism or additional needs

• Knowledge of strategies to support social and emotional development

• A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach

• Strong communication and teamwork skills

• Relevant qualifications or training in SEND support
