Yard Operative / Steel Loader - Shafton

The Yard Operative / Steel Loader is responsible for the safe and efficient handling, movement and storage of structural steel materials to support manufacturing operations. Working within a busy outdoor yard environment, the role involves loading and unloading deliveries, preparing materials for production, operating lifting equipment and ensuring all materials are received, stored and dispatched accurately.The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining operational efficiency while adhering to the highest standards of health, safety and quality.Key ResponsibilitiesSafely load and unload lorries using overhead cranes, forklifts and side loaders.Receive, inspect and organise incoming steel deliveries in accordance with operational requirements.Verify delivery documentation and ensure materials are accurately recorded and stored.Pick structural steel sections, plates and other materials for production machinery.Load, unload and stack steel onto shotblast machines and other processing equipment.Safely move materials throughout the yard and manufacturing facility using approved lifting equipment.Carry out manual handling duties in accordance with safe working practices.Maintain accurate material identification and traceability throughout the production process.Work closely with production teams to ensure materials are available to meet manufacturing schedules.Maintain high standards of housekeeping within the yard and storage areas.Report damaged materials, ..... full job details .....
