Van Driver / Yard Operative - Construction Company

Location: London
Contract: 3-Months initially, with a view to a full-time permanent role
Pay: GBP15-GBP17 per hour (PAYE), depending on experience (equivalent to GBP33,000 per year)
We are working on behalf of a busy and very well-established and respected construction company based and operating in Central London. They are looking to recruit a reliable Van Driver / Yard Operative to join their team.
This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with experience in construction logistics, who is confident working in a fast-paced yard environment and making deliveries to sites across London.
Role Responsibilities:
- Organising and maintaining the yard - loading/unloading materials and equipment;
- Driving a company van (3.5tonne flatbed truck) to deliver materials, tools, and equipment to various project sites;
- Supporting trades and site teams with equipment distribution;
- Ensuring deliveries are accurate, safe, and timely;
- Keeping the yard area tidy, secure, and compliant with health & safety standards.
Key Requirements:
- Full UK driving licence - Category B (essential);
- Previous experience in a construction yard or builders merchant (essential);
- Good knowledge of construction materials, plant & tools;
- Physically fit and capable of manual handling;
- Strong understanding of site safety and procedures;
- Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated;
