Winsearch is recruiting on behalf of a well-established manufacturing business seeking a motivated and dependable Workshop Operative to join their team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who takes pride in maintaining high standards, enjoys working in a hands-on environment, and is looking to build a long-term career within a busy workshop operation. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the workshop remains organised, efficient, and safe while supporting continuous improvement activities across the business.

Key Responsibilities

As a Workshop Operative, you will be responsible for:

• Maintaining clean, organised, and safe working areas throughout the workshop.
• Supporting workshop efficiency through effective housekeeping and workplace organisation.
• Cleaning and maintaining machinery, tools, and equipment to a high standard.
• Assisting with the movement and storage of materials and equipment.
• Supporting continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
• Identifying opportunities to reduce waste and improve workplace efficiency.
• Operating forklift trucks where appropriately licensed and authorised.
• Using overhead cranes safely and in line with company procedures where qualified.
• Assisting production and engineering teams with general workshop duties.
• Ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and environmental policies.
• Contributing positively to team objectives and supporting colleagues when required.

What We''re Looking For

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

• A strong work ethic and a proactive approach to daily tasks.
• Previous experience working within a workshop, manufacturing, engineering, or industrial environment.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
• A positive attitude and willingness to support colleagues across multiple functions.
• A practical, hands-on approach to problem solving.
• Good awareness of health and safety practices.

Desirable Skills & Qualifications

• Experience of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies.
• Valid Forklift Truck (FLT) licence.
• Overhead crane experience or relevant certification.
• Previous experience within a heavy engineering or manufacturing environment.
