Workshop Operative

A well-established engineering and manufacturing business in Witney is looking for a practical and reliable Workshop Operative to join their team.

Salary: Up to £30,000 depending on experience

Working Hours: Monday – Thursday 8:00am – 4:30pm, Friday 8:00am – 1:00pm

This is a varied, hands-on role supporting the day-to-day running of a busy workshop and facility. You’ll help keep operations running smoothly by assisting with preparation work, maintaining the workspace, and supporting the team with general tasks across the site.

As a Workshop Operative, your responsibilities will include:

• Keeping the workshop and loading areas clean, organised and safe
• Assisting with packing into export crates and preparing products for shipment
• Carrying out general maintenance and handyman tasks across the facility
• Completing local deliveries and collections when required
• Helping maintain external areas, including the yard and car park
• Supporting workshop preparation of components for manufacture

What We’re Looking For:

• A practical, hands-on approach and willingness to help wherever needed
• Experience using hand tools and general workshop equipment
• Good attention to detail and a proactive attitude
• Full, clean UK driving licence

The following would be beneficial but not essential:

• Previous experience using a lathe or machining equipment
• Forklift licence

This role would suit someone with practical, hands-on experience, ideally within a workshop, engineering, or manufacturing environment, who enjoys a varied role. For the right person, there may be opportunities to develop further skills and progress within the business over time. Equally, it could suit someone with solid hands-on experience who is looking for a stable role, without necessarily looking to move into a more demanding position.
