Workshop Engineer

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing UK engineering group specialising in high-precision mechanical and hydraulic solutions. The business is expanding with a brand-new, purpose-built workshop in Rotherham, focused on industrial gearbox overhauls and accredited rebuilds. They are seeking an experienced Workshop Engineer to play a key role in the setup and ongoing success of this new facility.

• Carry out full strip-down, inspection, diagnosis, and rebuild of large industrial reduction gearboxes
• Overhaul hydraulic pumps, motors, engines, and related mechanical components
• Work on complex, high-value assemblies requiring precision and strong technical knowledge
• Ensure all rebuild work meets required accreditation and quality standards
• Support workshop setup, workflow planning, and continuous improvement
• Contribute to a strong culture of safety, quality, and engineering excellence

• Proven experience stripping and rebuilding industrial gearboxes (essential)
• Strong background in hydraulics including pumps, motors, valves, and related systems
• Mechanical fitting/workshop engineering experience from industrial, plant, automotive, marine, or similar sectors
• Ability to work methodically and accurately on complex assemblies
• Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and good team communication skills

• -40,000 - -45,000 per annum (DOE)
• 45 hours per week, Monday to Friday 08:00-17:00
• Early finish on Fridays (around 16:00)
• Occasional overtime available but not guaranteed
• Training provided on specialist gearbox systems
