Workshop Engineer & Driver

Personnel Selection is recruiting a permanent practical and dependable Workshop Engineer & Driver for a rapidly expanding company based at its headquarters near Fleet. You will be joining the company at an exciting stage of company growth within the UK. The main purpose of this role is to service and maintain climate control power systems and equipment and ensure they are delivered in a timely fashion to the customer.

This varied role combines hands-on workshop engineering with deliveries, collections and customer-site support. The position would suit someone with a natural technical ability who enjoys variety and takes pride in their work. Specific training is offered for the right candidate, but you will need to have a natural “technically minded” ability. Our client is looking for a person with a “can do” attitude that would like to learn or advance their skill set and join their existing friendly team. Working hours will be 7am to 4pm Monday to Friday. Salary will be £34k to £35.

Skills to be considered for the position:

  • Good practical and mechanical aptitude.
  • Basic electrical knowledge, or a willingness and ability to learn.
  • Strong attention to detail and a safety-conscious approach.
  • Clear communication skills and a professional manner with customers.
  • Reliable, self-motivated and comfortable managing varied tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • A full, clean UK driving licence.
  • Flexibility to meet operational and customer requirements when needed.
  • Experience in the equipment-hire, construction or engineering sector.
  • PAT testing experience.
  • A current forklift licence would be preferred – refreshers available.
  • Experience driving long-wheelbase vans.
  • Knowledge of temporary power or climate-control equipment.

Key responsibilities

  • Service, inspect and maintain climate-control and power equipment.
  • Carry out portable appliance testing (PAT) and electrical safety checks.
  • Clean, prepare and test equipment before dispatch.
  • Assess returned equipment and identify servicing or repair requirements.
  • Assist with fault diagnosis and repairs.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date workshop records.
  • Load and unload company vehicles safely.
  • Move and store equipment securely and efficiently.
  • Assist with stock control and periodic stock takes.
  • Keep workshop and warehouse areas clean, organised and safe.
  • Follow all relevant health and safety procedures.
  • Deliver equipment to, and collect equipment from, customer sites.
  • Complete delivery and collection paperwork accurately.
  • Carry out routine vehicle checks and help ensure company vehicles remain safe and roadworthy.
  • Represent the business professionally when visiting customer sites.
  • Assist engineers with equipment installations when required.
  • Support connected-equipment project deployments and other site activities.
  • Follow risk assessments, method statements and customer site rules.
  • Report any issues or defects identified while on site.

If you are a practical, safety-conscious engineer who enjoys a varied role and takes pride in providing dependable service, Personnel Selection would like to hear from you. Please apply today with your current CV and one of our consultants will contact you to discuss further.

Thank you.
